But, there are methods to resolve this issue regardless of the reason. The most effective way to prevent your screen from turning black is to eliminate all possible causes.

It’s possible that your screen isn’t functioning correctly. However, if the screen is black at different times, one of your computer’s components could also fail. Based on feedback from users that a computer having a black screen is an occurrence that is a common problem. Certain users have stated that the black screen does not necessarily occur. What Makes The Screen Randomly Go Black?

How to Fix a Black Screen of Death Error in Windows 10
Unstable Power Supply
The primary reason that causes the screen to turn black is the unsteady power supply. This means that there could be issues with an electrical power source. It is among the essential components of a computer, which supplies power to the motherboard.
If your motherboard isn’t receiving a particular voltage that is in line with the specifications, it is not something that has to do with the screen issues, and all you need to do is to replace that power supply. But check the following reasons before you do any random things using the computer hardware.
A Quick Restart
Sometimes, all you require is an unintentional restart. Surprisingly, often a quick reboot is enough to solve a myriad of issues with your Windows operating system, particularly if your operating system is sometimes running. Before you go to something more complex, you should reboot your PC to see whether it resolves the black screen issue on your PC and then restores it to normal.
Check Power Cable/ Monitor Display Cable
In addition to video cable, examine whether or not your power cable is functioning perfectly. Ensure the power cable is securely connected to the power port on the monitor. If there is a problem with the connector, your monitor will lose the power source, but it will be back in the right direction in just a few seconds. It happens so quickly that you’ll not even know it’s a power issue.
Restart the File Explorer
In some instances, even if your computer is entirely black, you may be able to see your mouse’s cursor. This could mean you’re File Explorer isn’t working. All you have to do is open your File Explorer, and your display will begin working again. This is how you can accomplish this:
Start The Task Manager using the Ctrl + Alt + delete keys. Or, you can go towards the Start menu and search box, enter “task manager’ and then select the appropriate option.
On the Task Manager, Click File > Run a new task.
Enter “explorer.exe” in the Create new task dialogue box. Then press Enter.
This will resolve the black screen problem you are experiencing on Windows 10. Please do not give up hope if it doesn’t; you can move on to the next option.
Most common: overheating
A sudden black screen that seems to be an inactive computer is a sign your computer is in trouble.
The leading reason for crashes is overheating.
Your computer requires adequate airflow to prevent it from overheating. Check that the vents aren’t filled with dust or other particles.
Sometimes, a poorly designed computer may overheat even though there aren’t any obstructions. This is because the CPU is used excessively for too long. This could be caused by a virus infection, something I’ll address shortly or caused by running a CPU-intensive game or program continuously for an extended duration. If the former happens, you’ll have to take measures to increase the cooling or ventilation of the air flowing through or around your computer.
Uninstalling/Disabling third-party programs
Although they are helpful, they have been known to cause problems for the system. You must remove all third-party applications that run in the background. And If any settings about graphic manipulation are available, ensure that you remove them. Here’s the procedure for uninstalling these programs:
Click Windows + R Enter “appwiz. cpl” in the dialogue box, then press Enter.
In the manager of applications, locate the program responsible for the issue. Right-click on it and choose Uninstall.
After uninstalling the program, verify if the problem has been fixed.
Examining your GPU
Suppose you use an external GPU dedicated to a third party on your PC (such as NVIDIA/AMD). In that case, It is suggested to verify that it’s working correctly and is connected properly. An unreliable GPU that is typically frequently used and overclocked can result in fluctuations in the display.
In this case, try deactivating your dedicated graphics to test if the issue remains with your integrated graphics. If so, it will allow us to determine the issue’s root. Here is the procedure to disable those dedicated graphics
Use Windows + R Type “devmgmt.msc” in the dialogue box, and then press Enter.
When you are in the Device Manager, search for Display adapters, right-click on the card, and then choose to disable the device.
After you have disabled the device, reboot your computer and see whether the issue continues.
Try An Install Disk
Some people experience a black screen due to an operating system issue, like an incompatible display driver. In this scenario, your monitor may be working while booting up. However, it will cease to function.
If you encounter this problem, you’ll have to boot into Windows Safe Mode or restart Windows to update the driver. However, before doing that, you must confirm this is the real issue. It is possible to ensure this by using a live disc such as the Windows installation disc or the free Linux Live CD such as Ubuntu. Installation isn’t necessary; just play your disc until it shows the desktop. If the desktop is displayed a black screen, then the black screen on your monitor is due to a defective video driver.
Unfinished or damaged Windows 10 installation
A faulty or incomplete Windows 10 installation is usually due to defective media or installation files. Another reason could be malfunctioning hardware when the operating system’s files are not correctly packed and installed.
The computer may have looked like it was working and could have been able to boot up without issues after installing it.
But, the black screen will occasionally appear when the user switches the computer on after the first shutdown. This could indicate that the installation wasn’t as effective as it seemed.
Sometimes, a black screen on your desktop is a problem that can be solved by letting it sit for up to 6 hours if your computer is running slow so that Windows can fix the issue. This is a good idea to try along with the other solutions mentioned above.
