This Monday, Major League Baseball will continue the 2021 All-Star Game festivities in Denver with the Home Run Derby at Coors Field. Format and rules
Batters will battle it out head-to-head with three minutes of regulation time between rounds 1 and 2. There will be one minute in Round 3. When the pitch is released, the timer begins, and any home run hit by a pitched released before the timer is over will count. Batters are allowed to call a 45-second timeout within the regulation time of each round.
After the regulation time has ended, the batters will be given 30 seconds of extra time. This time could be extended up to 60 seconds when the batter hits a home run measured in 475 or more. If the conclusion of around ties teams, there will be a 60-second swing-off to end the tie.
Prize pool
It was increased in the past two years between $725,000 and $2.5 million. The prize of $1 million was awarded to the winning winner.
